Day 2: Hiking between Ærøskøbing and Søby
Today you are walking in the landscape between Ærøskøbing and Søby. Søby is, like Marstal and Ærøskøbing, a harbor town. From Søby there is a ferry connection to both Funen and Jutland. You will be able to experience the northwestern part of the island, and the first part of the walk goes along the north coast overlooking the archipelago.
You pass the old renaissance Manor Søbygaard, which is today a museum and cultural center. From the medieval fortress next to Søbygaard there is a magnificent view of the northern end of the island and Lillebælt, Als and Funen. The walk continues through Ærø Nature Park to Søby.
A free bus ride will bring you through small towns back to Ærøskøbing, where after the day's hiking you can go for a walk in the old town, a beautifully preserved little market town with cobbled streets and quirky charming houses. (19 km). (B / - / -)
Day 3: Hiking between Marstal and Ærøskøbing
After a good breakfast, you are ready to start your hike in Marstal, the seafaring town with the hilly streets, the maritime museum and the church with no less than 6 church ships, hanging under the ceiling.
The route starts along the water, and up the hills to Lille Rise, along old roads past the grave passage and burial mounds, with great views of the bays and winding shoreline.
Today's walks end in Ærøskøbing. It is also the end of the trip. You can pick up your luggage and are ready for your return. (16 km). (B/-/-)
Optional extra night in Ærøskøbing or Svendborg can be booked.
The daily program has been prepared based on the latest information available. Subject to change

WALKS
The days walks are between 16 and 19 km and can be carried out by everyone in a generally good shape and with the will and desire for hiking. As you overnight at the same accommodation on Ærø both days, you should only carry a small backpack with the items you need for the days walk, such as lunch pack, water, rainwear, camera, snacks, etc. You will then have extra energy to just enjoy the walks.

THE ARCHIPELAGO TRAIL
The archipelago was opened in 2007, and with its 220 kilometers one of Denmark's longest hiking routes. The route goes through beautiful natural areas, along the coasts, past castles and manor houses and close to pleasant village environments. It offers great panoramic views of the South Funen archipelago, strung like pearls of lovely Danish cultural and natural landscapes.
